Best Dressed: Reese Witherspoon

November 24, 2008

Reese Witherspoon is a classy lady. The Nina Ricci strapless cocktail dress she wore to the Los Angeles premiere of Four Christmases was the very definition of “tastefully sexy,” and her accessories–from the peep-toe booties to the funky gold necklace–were expertly chosen. Kudos to her stylist! Of course, Reese deserves some credit too… Would you believe that Reese Witherspoon wore heels form Banana Republic to her movie premiere? Believe it! Reese’s shoes cost $90 on sale.Story Covered by:zimbio

Dooney & Bourke Shiny Leather Hayden Clutch

November 24, 2008

Meet the Shiny Leather Hayden Clutch. It’s not too bad looking, in my opinion, for a Dooney bag. I like the shape and the contrasting trim. But what it up with the lion head? Apparently it is meant to represent Hayden’s astrological sign (Leo) and it’s 24kt gold-plated too boot! Personally, I would prefer the clutch without such an embellishment.Story Covered by:bagbliss

Karl Lagerfeld designs Chanel coins

November 24, 2008

There’s not much that a certain Mr Lagerfeld won’t put his name to. After the bizarre release of the Karl Lagerfeld teddy bear, it has perhaps come as little surprise that he has taken to designing some limited edition Chanel coins. Well, in all fairness, he must know quite a bit about money.

The coins have been produced as a celebration of the 125th birthday of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel and show her portrait on one side of the coin, while the number 5 will be displayed on the other. In today’s financial crisis, it seems Lagerfeld certainly has his business head screwed on tight.

Lagerfeld’s collection of 11,099 coins will go on sale on 1 December.

Diane Von Furstenberg Victoire Silk Faille Wrap Dress

November 24, 2008

While many of us may be tempted to wear dark colors, long sleeves, and sweaters come the winter time, I sometimes choose to buck the trend and wear fun flirty and bright colors to stand out. While shopping this weekend, I found a perfect dress that fits that description; this Diane Von Furstenberg Victoire Silk Faille Wrap Dress.

It has that certain punch of color that is sometimes lacking in the winter months. The ruffles are also spot on for the season. There’s also a belted tie for you so you don’t have to use one of the belts that is already in your closet for those sweaters and shirts you already own. And check out that popped collar in the back. It’s super fun. Neiman Marcus has this dress priced at $425.

Bruni Rushed Into Marriage

November 20, 2008

France’s First Lady, pop star Carla Bruni, rushed her wedding to President Nicolas Sarkozy to avoid scrutiny about the couple’s dating status. The pair enjoyed a one month engagement before they married in February 2008 - months after Sarkozy divorced his second wife Cecilia.

Although Bruni insists she’s honoured to be on his arm, she admits their engagement would have lasted longer had her husband held a different office.

She says, “I’m getting worried about being good enough to be the First Lady of France, but I also like it and I try my best. It’s not so comfortable to be dating when you’re the President of France. Maybe if he was a doctor or a lawyer we would’ve been engaged longer. People don’t really like it when the president is dating.”

Karl Lagerfeld on a Chanel

November 20, 2008

On Chanel’s recent show in Paris, models walked down the runway toting handbags sporting the likeness of Karl Lagerfeld on the front, like a mask. The ‘Kaiser’ Karl is known for saying some inane things and designing some questionable things, (like the recent Chanel ‘Miami Vice’ Gun shoes) but this is the most narcissistic act of fashion ever. What do you think of these bags? Do you love the man behind the brand enough to carry his portrait around on your bag?Story Covered by:whatshauteblog

Fifteen is the new twenty. Just take a look at Miley Cyrus and Taylor Momsen

November 20, 2008

Still not convinced? See designer Christian Audigier’s offspring – Crystal Audigier (pictured above) on the cover of this month’s L.A Direct. Can you believe she’s only 15? On another note is it just me or could she pass as Taylor’s lookalike?

Hardly surprising, Crystal’s followed in daddy’s footsteps and is set to make her mark in fashion as a designer.

Just in case you’re wondering she’s not wearing her own creation on the cover. It is in fact a pettiskirt by Kaiya Eve Couture.

Marc Jacobs settles with NY over improper payments

November 20, 2008

Top fashion designer Marc Jacobs‘ company agreed to pay New York state $1 million for improper payments made to secure a venue to hold fashion shows, the New York attorney general’s office said on Wednesday. The agreement stems from payments made from 2000 to 2007 by Marc Jacobs International, through an agent, to the former superintendent of the 69th Regiment Armory in exchange for use of the armory’s drill hall.

James Jackson, 57, who ran the armory for over eight years, has pleaded guilty to grand larceny for demanding payments from armory exhibitors over an eight-year period, including about $35,000 in cash and goods from Marc Jacobs.

“New York City is a global epicenter for fashion and cultural events, and we will not allow corruption and greed to tarnish one of our most lucrative industries,” Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said in a statement.

“Marc Jacobs’ executives cooperated fully with the office of the attorney general and today’s agreement resolves the investigation with respect to Marc Jacobs,” the office said.
As part of the agreement, Marc Jacobs has agreed to retain a private monitoring agency for two years that will review operations and report to the attorney general.Story Covered by:reuters
