Kate Bosworth and Burberry are birds of a feather

October 31, 2008

Kate Bosworth wore Burberry (and posed with the label’s young designer, Christopher Bailey) at last week’s Fashion Group International’s 25th Annual Night of Stars. We loved the sheen and lightness of the feathers here as well as the casual, ombre brown-and-tan belt at the waist. More proof that with Bailey at the helm, Burberry will continue to produce relevant, youthful clothes. Now, about those plaid scarves…

Zac Posen Gets Out the Vote…

October 31, 2008

Voting has never been more fashionable — especially if Zac Posen has his way. On Thursday morning, Posen filmed a 15-second video urging people to vote, to vote for Barack Obama, and to dress for the occasion. The video — featuring the designer wearing lots of Obama pins made by his studio — can now been seen on fashionthevote.org. Visitors to the site can also send Posen photos of themselves in their election day look, which will be posted on the site. “I am doing this because I want to make a difference, and I want to encourage people to get to the voting, vote for Obama, and have fun and look good doing it,” Posen said. “I think it’s such an important day in our country’s history. It’s about people expressing their individuality.” Asked whether he had any fashion advice for the big day, Posen had this to say: “I think blue obviously is the color of choice, and red is a good accent color.”

October 31, 2008

Keira Knightly
has a new favourite bag and it doesn’t come with a three figure price tag or a year long waiting list.

Keira’s new bag of love is in fact the blue and white striped, cotton, dust bag that every Anya Hindmarch handbag comes with.

Keira’s obviously giving her Anya bag, and come to think of it her Chanel and Mulberry numbers, a much need break deciding that this protective duster is just as chic for toting around town.

Victoria Beckham Strips Down For Emporio Armani Underwear

October 30, 2008

Sure, they’ve made their share of the best dressed lists, but it looks like the Beckhams are now vying for the title of best UN-dressed couple. Today, WWD is reporting that Victoria will follow in her husband’s footsteps by posing for an Emporio Armani underwear ad, hitting magazines and billboards this spring. Will men drool over her half-clad bod the way we ladies did over David’s? Mr. Armani certainly thinks so. “Who better than Victoria Beckham to launch our new global Emporio Armani underwear campaign?” the designer said. “Victoria is a style icon, a dynamic lady whose influence and recognition will add great excitement to the continued international growth of our Emporio Armani women’s underwear business.”

The story behind hot American label Beckerman reads a little like the plotline of a sitcom: three hippy-cool sisters pursuing different aspects of fashion design eventually come together to create a label that takes the states by storm. The real life characters: Free spirited twins, Caillianne and Samantha as well as younger sister Chloe founded the label after working as apprentices for big names such as Oscar de la Renta and Randolph Duke. Always one to keep on top of the best new labels Asos offer a few of Beckeman’s designs but its worth checking out their quirky website and our very own Agnes Deyn modelling last seasons collection Story Covered by:myfashionlife

Kelly Carlson and Maggie Brindley

October 30, 2008

The Fallon ad agency’s shiny new downtown office space, complete with sweeping central staircase, provided an elegant backdrop for a staging of Yigal Azrouël’s spring 2009 collection. The event, which previewed a trunk show at Grethen House, gave the fashionable crowd an excuse to dress up in the middle of the week. These two attendees prove that it’s not what you’re wearing, but how you put it together. On the high end: Maggie Brindley, manager of GH2 (Grethen House’s consignment and less expensive shop in northeast Minneapolis), wore an Azrouël dress with a Rick Owens leather jacket and Robert Clergerie boots. Showing off a more populist price point: Kelly Carlson, a Minneapolis marketing consultant, who made a refreshing fall statement in all white. Her lacy dress is from A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz and her boots are from the Victoria’s Secret catalog.Story Covered by:.startribune

Jessica Biel Plastic Surgery/Aging Marie Claire Magazine UK November 2008

October 29, 2008

Jessica Biel says she is “fearful in a very vain manner” about her changing body and the iprocess of aging.“I feel my knees changing – like, why do I have this pain when I’m running on the treadmill? What’s going on with my lower back when I wake up in the morning? I just feel changes,” the 26-year-old actress says with an air of doom in the November issue of British Marie Claire UK.

She continues: “And I’m definitely fearful in a very vain manner about my body aging. I think it’s freaky weird to look at a picture of your grandmother when she was a young woman and look at her now.”

Although growing older frightens her, there will be no plastic surgery for the future Mrs. Timberlake: “I am really afraid of blades on my face. That freaks me out beyond belief. I would way rather have wrinkles than have some slice-up going on.”

“I tell you, I have so many friends having babies and getting married, and they just want to put me where they are so we can go to nursery together,” she says. “I’m like, ‘Noooooo!’ I’m resisting.’”Story Covered by:popcrunch

Jennifer Lopez, Prince Salute Donatella Versace

October 29, 2008

Prince didn’t say a word - nor did he sing - at Fashion Group International’s annual Night of Stars on Thursday, Oct. 23, but he did function as arm candy for Jennifer Lopez on stage as she introduced the evening’s big honoree, Donatella Versace, who took home the “Superstar” award.Lopez may have done all the talking, but when Versace came out to accept her award (a few seconds too early - the Prince song that was supposed to play as she made her entrance started late), she made sure to thank Prince for “being a superstar.”But Versace’s timing gaffe wasn’t an isolated incident - after a lengthy back and forth between friends Philippe Starck and Christian Louboutin, who both picked up awards (Starck for architecture and Louboutin as a “Star Honoree”) - the announcer accidentally introduced presenter Ashley Olsen (there to salute Francisco Costa) in the midst of Louboutin’s acceptance speech. Call it “Night of False Starts.”

Hosted by Barneys New York’s Simon Doonan, he opened the night by humorously urging honorees and presenters to keep the speeches short, “Donatella has to get to Katz’s deli in the Lower East Side by 11, she’s judging a pickle-eating competition,” he quipped.

ES Magazine - Leona Lewis

October 29, 2008

Even Simon Cowell couldn’t have imagined that his protégée Leona Lewis would achieve success on such a global scale. The softly spoken vegan from Hackney, London has topped the US charts, were so many UK acts have tried and failed, and she even reduced Oprah to tears with her beautiful singing voice on her show. The Brit singing sensation appeared on the cover of the Evening Standard magazine on Friday, looking amazing wearing a Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2008 dress, which is similar, but not the same as the dress Lily Allen wore to the GQ Men of the Year Awards.

On being a high-street girl: “A lot of people spend money on shoes and bags, but I get mine really cheap because I don’t wear any leather.”

On accusation of her blandness: “I’ve got my stories, but I don’t flash my business everywhere because that’s not me.”

On what would happen if everything stopped as quickly as it started: “I’m a bit insecure about things. I’m hoping it will keep going. The day I stop being grateful, is the day I don’t deserve this anymore.”Story Covered by:redcarpet-fashionawards
