Zara Spring/Summer 2008 Ad Campaign

May 30, 2008

Check out hottie Iselin Steiro donning Zara’s Spring/Summer collection. The French country meets art-nouveau photo shoot is quite intriguing and I like how the soft shapes contrasts against Iselin’s strong features. Doesn’t this ad make you want to run to the nearest Zara and shop, shop, shop?Read the full Story with

Dior dumps Sharon Stone for remark about China

May 30, 2008

Sharon Stone is an enormous bitch who ACTUALLY said this during an interview when asked about the earthquake that hit China:“And then I’ve been, you know, I’ve been concerned about, oh, who should we deal with the Olympics because they’re not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who’s a good friend of mine. And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened and I thought, ‘Is that Karma, when you’re not nice and the bad things happen to you?”

Well, Ms. Stone got some karma of her own. In return, although she apologized for her careless and insensitive remark, Dior China has dropped Sharon Stone from all their marketing and ad campaigns:

“In light of Sharon Stone’s inappropriate comments and their negative impact, Dior China has decided to withdraw [her ads] immediately and stop using Sharon Stone’s image in any advertising, marketing and commercial activities. Dior is one of the international brands that entered China early and has won consumers’ respect and loyalty. We absolutely won’t support any comments that hurt Chinese people’s feelings.”

Good for them.

Alicia Keys Learns Lessons in Love

May 30, 2008

Sweet songbird Alicia Keys graces the July 2008 cover of Seventeen magazine, on newsstands June 3rd. The singer-songwriter opened up to the mag about her major mistakes, lost loves and how she’s finally following her heart. On her current friendships: “I don’t have a ton of friends. That’s too much work. So most of my friends are girls I’ve known for years. I mean we were 4 years old together, or we met each other in high school, or junior high school, so I’ve known them for a long time. Most of them are great people and don’t even look at me like ‘Alicia Keys’ – they are my great, wonderful sisters.”

On what she’s learned about love and dating: “I wouldn’t deal with a guy who didn’t know how to make me feel really loved. If you’re not totally head-over-heels adoring and loving me at every moment, I’m not even into you. I need that. I think we deserve people who really, really love us. Like whether you’re a thousand miles away or right there, you need to make the person feel special, and you have to feel special too.”

On being a perfectionist: “Yes, I definitely am. But I’m realizing it’s okay for things to not be perfect. Like even with relationships – I think we get into them, and we have these ideas of how it’s supposed to be. And when it starts not to feel right, we think we can make it right. But when it’s not right, I have to say, Something’s wrong and I have to figure out what it is so I can feel happier.”

Alicia learned to play the piano at six, got her first acting gig on The Cosby Show at five, and has won 75 awards since her first album dropped. For more info on Alicia, visit Seventeen.com.

It’s official! The supermodel is back in fashion

May 30, 2008

I have been waiting for one of the big fashion publications to fully address what many fashion fans have known for a while that the supermodel has returned… big time! We  have led with a mother of an article today discussing the renewed appeal of some of our favourite ’90s cover girls, thanks to some pretty massive ad campaigns of late - Claudia for Chanel and Salvatore Ferragamo, Linda for Prada, Naomi for YSL, Christy for Escada, and everyone for Louis Vuitton. They might have seemed done and dusted, but over a decade later they’re still banking the big cheques.”At the end of the Nineties, there was a [supermodel] overdose and people wanted to see actresses, but maybe the fact that actresses don’t really have a real relationship with fashion is driving [their return],” said Didier Fernandez of DNA Models, who reps for Evangelista, Nadja Auermann and Amber Valletta.

Perhaps we really are just fed up of seeing actresses and songstresses trying to be models. After all, Eva Mendes’s recent gig with Calvin Klein doesn’t seem to fanning too much excitement. Fashion is a fickle game, of course. What comes full circle, often back pedals again before taking in a whole new direction.

The latest Chanel campaign will mark Karl Lagerfeld’s third consecutive with Claudia Schiffer. So why, when he could have anyone he wants, does Karl keep going back?

“Time makes them sometimes even more interesting,” he said. “I work with them because they are great and right even for this moment. They are still young women with nice faces and great personal, modern style. They are, and stay, irreplaceable.”

‘Irreplaceable’ certainly seems like a fitting description for the supermodel of today. So this just leaves one lingering question, with Marc Jacobs vowing this week not to use celebs like Victoria Beckham anymore, could we soon be seeing Cindy Crawford or Elle Macpherson on his ad books? He did it for Vuitton…

Smile Like a Celebrity!

May 30, 2008

A smile is something that always makes us, Ladies, prettier. Either it’s a friendly smile or a sexy smile, it’s much more attractive if your teeth are white and healthy. But such things as coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, sodas every day effect the color of our teeth making them yellowish, grey and quite unattractive. Let alone the fact that you can no longer wear some lipcolors as red and pink for they make the color of your teeth pop! So, what should we do if our teeth do not allow us to have that great sexy smile we want?Read the full Story with

Who Wore it Better? SJP vs Lily Cole

May 30, 2008

Feathers have been popping up all over the fashion spectrum this season appearing on the catwalk at Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy. The midnight moth corset (£2,850) by Lee Klabin appears in the Sex and the City Movie but was also been worn by model Lily Cole at the My Wardrobe Patricia Field party. This slightly feels like a US vs UK version of Who Wore it better but don’t let that sway your decision. Let us know what you think!

Moschino Is Back In Manhattan

May 30, 2008

It was a sad day when Moschino closed the doors to their quirky Madison Avenue Boutique and all their signature cheeky details (think staircase with a railing shaped like a question mark and a peace-sign-shaped door handle) were torn-down to make room for La Perla’s classic décor. Luckily, New Yorkers and bold fashionistas can breathe a sigh of relief as the designer label, started in the ‘80s by Franco Moschino and now designed by Rosella Jardini, will be opening a flagship in New York City in what used to be the Quality Meats building in the meatpacking-district.
