Hayden Panettiere @ Genesis Awards 2008

March 31, 2008

After making a quick appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards, Hayden Panettiere was honored at the 2008 Genesis Awards on Saturday night in Beverly Hills. (The event was produced by The Hollywood Office of the Humane Society of the United States.)The Genesis Awards honors the news and entertainment media for showcasing animal protection issues. Hayden was honored with The Wyler Award for drawing worldwide attention to the cruelty of Japan’s whale and dolphin slaughter. The award, given to a celebrity who has made news on behalf of animals, is named after Genesis Awards founder Gretchen Wyler, the former Broadway headliner and animal activist, who died last year.

Said Beverly Kaskey, Senior Director of The Hollywood Office of The Humane Society of the United States: “We feel Hayden is a very worthy successor to Sir Paul McCartney, last year’s Wyler Award recipient. Casual Rules on the Kids’ Choice Awards Orange Carpet

March 31, 2008

Nickelodeon hosted the 2008 Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night, and similar to last year, the big stars — like Will Smith — brought their families for a stroll down the orange carpet. Wannabe Award winner Cameron Diaz, America Ferrera and Ashlee Simpson were just a few of the ladies who got girlie in dresses, while Rihanna and Abigail Breslin went more casual in jeans. Check out Fab’s coverage of the ladies’ looks, as well as their Love it or Hate it polls. Even Project Runway’s Christian Siriano was on hand to watch the fashion parade. Not quite the Oscars red carpet, but it looked like everyone dressed for a fun — or slimy — time.

An American Classic… Ralph Lauren Fall 2008

March 31, 2008

For forty years and running, Ralph Lauren has been the standard of American Style. This season, for Fall 2008, he showed his best collection in recent years and proved why Ralph is still the king. That fate full Friday back in February, Ralph collaborated with British Hat designer Philip Treacy and showed us a collection that consisted of effortless style and classically beautiful clothes. The show was reminiscent of an American Hunting lodge with 3 enormous chandeliers with arms resembling moose antlers hanging from the ceiling.

The couture techniques were amazing as Ralph finally embraces evening with a series of beautifully embroidered silk gowns and languid, velvet pieces that touched upon Victorian. This was a fearless collection by Ralph, and after last seasons Blockbuster anniversary event it seemed impossible for Lauren to top. That he did, making Ralph Lauren untouchable in the world of American fashion and effortless style. An Oscar worthy finale to a rather blah New York Fashion Week.

Tom Ford : “Parisian men don’t know how to dress!”

March 31, 2008

Fantastic Man Spring-Summer 2008 : Tom Ford by Jeff Burton
GUCCI: “…having to design 16 collections a year and make a lot of silly stuff I really didn’t care about. Leaving Gucci taught me a lot about who is a real friend and who is a friend for business. The Gucci experience was horrible. I was burnt out from working too hard and I was exhausted from the experience and a certain disillusionment and an inability to see my future.”KIDS: “Richard knows I’ve wanted this for a long time. He’s just resisted it. He would be a spectacular father. It’s going to give his life new meaning … It will be biologically mine. I mean, I’m a lot younger. If things follow their natural order he’ll [Richard] probably leave the planet ahead of me and I can’t not have had something I’ve wanted forever. I’ve always wanted kids. I don’t want to get to 75 years old and just have made a lot of dresses, done some houses.”

PRIVATE :

“I don’t find the human body offensive. I don’t find a guy’s **** or a woman’s vagina offensive; in fact, I find them beautiful. I would put them on an ad with a perfume bottle if I could get away with it.”

PARIS:

“[We’ll have] about 50 stores in the next two years. Except Paris. Paris is not a priority. Our stuff is not aimed at tourists coming in and taking a lot home — and Parisian men don’t know how to dress!”

TEEN YEARS:

“I didn’t play American football [when I was 12], so I wasn’t so popular. At fourteen or fifteen all of a sudden I became very popular because — and I’m not saying this in an egotistical way — I became good looking. I wasn’t even aware of it but other people were all of a sudden aware that I was handsome. I was having sex with girls when I was 14, and that was because they were pouncing on me. I wasn’t even aware that I preferred men.”

RETIRE :

“I will not retire until I literally drop dead.”

Kate Moss Goes Green — With a Little Help From a Famous Friend!

March 28, 2008

We’ve been chalking up Kate Moss’s radiant appearance to boyfriend Jamie Hince, but it turns out it’s actually all thanks to the ultimate rock chick turned eco-beauty junkie Jo Wood. The wife of Rolling Stone rocker Ronnie Wood and founder of the Jo Wood Organics beauty line tells PEOPLE at her Everyday Range product launch how she convinced the supermodel to go organic. “I opened her fridge to see what was organic and there was nothing. I started telling her how important it is for her little girl.” And the mom of five-year-old Lila Grace is now almost 100% converted, including using Jo’s beauty line. “Kate loves the stuff, she loves all the oils,” adds Wood.
As for the model’s bright complexion, Wood chalks it up to her new organic food regimen. “It’s amazing she can get away with it. She still likes to have a good party, but her skin looks good still. I told her! You have to look after your skin but it’s what you put in you as well.” So where should an organic beginner start? “Read the labels,” Jo says. “Once you start reading labels then you only want to have things that you understand in your products.” Consider us converted.

GET C.R.A.F.T.Y

March 28, 2008

NEW SEASON equals new cult denim label to fall in love with and spring/summer 2008 is all about C.r.a.f.t. - the achingly hip label founded by Michael Kopplstätter and Gideon Day, designers with a pedigree that involves design stints at Helmut Lang and Paul Smith respectively, and beloved of one Kate Moss.If C.r.a.f.t. sounds a little too twee for your taste, think again; the initials stand for Can’t Remember A F***ing Thing, as an ode to the drunken conception of the project. With a loyal international fanbase, styles include everything from the self-explanatory Bardot and Gainsbourg to the Ziggy Stardust-inspired Rock And Roll Suicide and Nervous Breakdown, the label’s quintessential skinny jean.

“We are very fortunate to have an excellent team working together at C.r.a.f.t.,” Kopplstätter tells us. “I guess it would be fair to say that the essence of the brand comes from a pedigree of craftsmanship mixed with some rock ‘n roll soul.”

“Each design concept for the collection takes inspiration from girls who are as natural as they edgy - great icons of the Sixties, such as Uschi Obermeyer, best reflect this attitude,” he adds. “I want the jeans to enhance individuality rather than masque it.”

Kate Bosworth’s Sienna style

March 28, 2008

Kate Bosworth proved that she is a fan of Sienna Miller’s style this week, when she stepped out in a Twenty8Twelve jacket for an appearance on the David Letterman show. On the promotional trail for new movie 21, the actress wore a black tailored jacket from the fashion line that Miller started with sister Savannah last year.Perhaps taking inspiration from the Factory Girl star’s penchant for the layered look, Bosworth teamed the Calandra jacket with a Chloé beaded dress and Sergio Rossi black heels. She bizarrely also added paisley print leggings, which made the whole look appear busy and badly matched. Thick black tights would have proved far more flattering.
